  • This is a comprehensive list of songs by the Pixies, an American alternative rock band. This list includes album tracks, B-sides, demos, live recordings and remixes of songs written by one or more of the band's members or songs covered by the band; it does not include songs that members of the Pixies wrote, recorded or performed with Frank Black and the Catholics, The .
  • The title might be French for "fool the world," but with Trompe le Monde, the Pixies weren't fooling anyone: this was essentially Black Francis' solo debut. It focuses on Francis' sci-fi fascination and lacks any Kim Deal songs; even her backing vocals are far and few between. Yet the band sounds revitalized on Trompe le Monde, as if it were planned as their last hurrah.8/
  • Out of the Pixies' original work, Trompe le Monde is arguably their weakest work and can be apparent that the band was starting to spread their ideas to fun but it still such a god damn fun record to listen to with its more emphasis on noisy punk whilst giving a more surreal lyrics does make this still a great album.

  • Oct 17, · In all, "Trompe Le Monde" spelled the inevitable "end of the line" - or "end of the era" for Pixies. The deserved cult status kept the loyal fanbase strong and bullding up, but judging it from a 25+ years distance, you can hear the cracks, pushes and shoves on this album /5(K).
  • "Trompe Le Monde" is a venture into a more produced, more "sci-fi" sound (Frank also took the sci-fi with him for his first 2 solo releases). It is frankly, for me, the best Pixies, or Frank Black writing ever released. This album is worth the money alone for the track "Letter to Memphis"/5().
